In recognition of the APSA’s 40th anniversary, the Executive Board would like to recognize some of the many supervisors among our members who demonstrate exceptional community spirit and solidarity. Nominees for the Spirit of APSA Award should lead their teams with compassion and equity, collaborate with colleagues across MSU and serve as knowledge-resources to other APSA members.
One member will be selected each month from among the nominees, for a total of twelve awardees for the year.
Who is eligible?
Awardees must be MSU-APSA members:
· In good standing;
· Who have been in their current positions for at least two years;
· Who have not received a similar university/unit award in the last five years; and
· Who are not current members of the APSA Executive Board.
Supervisors may be nominated by their APSA colleague, who must submit a short nomination form. The form will include:
· The nominee’s name, work unit and email;
· The nominator’s name, work unit and email (they don’t have to be in the same unit or MAU); and
· A short description of why you think that the nominee exemplifies the spirit of APSA.
· Nomination form can be found at: https://forms.microsoft.com/r/b1WweW2CC6
How do we choose a winner?
The APSA Member Outreach Committee will convene each month to select one supervisor from all eligible nominations. Nominations will be carried forward into the next month. The same nominator can’t nominate the same person more than once, but you can nominate multiple supervisors.
What do winners get?
Each winner will receive a $250 cash prize, a commemorative gift and a celebration cake. The commemorative gift and cake will be presented to the winner at their office.
The Member Outreach Committee will prepare a short write-up about the winner, which will be sent to the winner’s immediate supervisor and published on the APSA website.
