Jaimie Hutchison, MA, LPC, the Associate Director of Engagement under University Health and Wellbeing is February’s Spirit of APSA Award winner, the second of twelve winners in 2025. Nominated by their fellow APSA supervisors, these awardees embody the core values of our union: excellence, community spirit and solidarity.
Jaimie’s nominator praised her compassionate leadership and dedication to fostering a supportive community, not only on her own team, but in units across MSU’s campus.
As leader of the Engagement Team, Jaimie manages outreach, coordinates invited presentations and oversees a model for scaling health and wellbeing initiatives across the university. Jaimie has worked at MSU for 13 years (with a four-year break), and her service includes six years with the WorkLife office, which integrated into University Health and Wellbeing two years ago. She has occupied her current supervisory position for a year, managing three full-time employees and three student workers. In addition, Jaimie oversees the MSU Student Food Bank, which serves over 6,000 students and distributes over 110,000 pounds of food annually.
Jaimie considers the most rewarding thing her work collaborating with and supporting the growth of a team committed to kindness and empathy – and seeing their work make a difference.
She also has enjoyed the many colleagues she’s worked with during her time at MSU: “we truly have some amazing humans working here.”
The APSA Executive Board and Member Outreach Committee extends their congratulations to Jaimie and thanks her for her contributions to our community. Do you know an exceptional APSA member? Nominate them for award consideration using this form.
