Suzanne Reed, June's Spirit of APSA Award winner

On behalf of the MSU-APSA Executive Board and Membership Outreach Committee, I’m pleased to announce that Suzanne Manuel Reed is the winner of June’s Spirit of APSA Award. Suzanne, congratulations!

Suzanne has supported operations in the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) as a member of the CAL Finance Team for over nine years and supervises three APA employees and one temp-on-call employee. She is a member of the CAL Financial Advisory Board, where she is a trusted thought-partner to college administrators and staff colleagues.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Suzanne points to the interactions (in group and individual meetings, as well as informal daily conversations) that have built powerful bonds among her team members.

“What I appreciate most is the mutual support and kindness that flows naturally among us," she said. "Whether we're celebrating a win, navigating a challenge or just exchanging morning hellos, there’s a sense of care that makes our work feel meaningful. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who not only work hard but also bring warmth and heart to everything they do.”

Suzanne’s nominator praises her for demonstrating exceptional community spirit, equity and a growth mindset among her team members and colleagues. She improves processes and relationships across her work unit, earning her a reputation as an exemplary leader in her college.

Suzanne, your team is lucky to have you as a leader, and we're grateful for your many contributions as a colleague. Congratulations on this well-deserved award! Members, remember to nominate other impressive APSA supervisors for award consideration using this form .
