Subject: Upcoming change for MSU employees’ life insurance beneficiary designation
This email is to notify you that as of today, Dec. 3, MSU Human Resources notified MSU employees currently enrolled in MSU’s life insurance coverage of an upcoming change to how they designate their beneficiary(ies). Please note the change in case you get questions from employees in your unit or department.
Starting on Jan. 1, 2019, Prudential Insurance Company of America will begin administering the life insurance beneficiary designation process. If an employee wants to enter or update their beneficiary information for life insurance, they will need to complete this through the Prudential website beginning on Jan. 1, 2019.
Previously this process occurred through the EBS Portal; however, this change is an effort to provide a more seamless process from enrollment to connecting with the employees’ loved ones over a life claim. Employees who entered this information in EBS will need to re-designate their beneficiary(ies) through the Prudential website beginning on Jan. 1, 2019.
If an employee needs to make a change to their beneficiary designation before Jan. 1, they can complete the Beneficiary Designation Form on the MSU Human Resources website and mail it to:

Note: This change does not apply to other beneficiary designations. For benefits such as retirement or critical illness, employees would need to update their beneficiary designations directly through that specific vendor’s website.
